VRUM Junior Ensemble is VRUM´s young performing company — a space where children aged 8–12 step into the world of contemporary dance and theatre as creators, thinkers, movers, and collaborators.
Led by Sanja Frühwald, artistic director of VRUM Performing Arts Collective, and supported by VRUM artists, the ensemble becomes a laboratory of imagination. Through weekly practice from October to June, participants explore contemporary dance technique, improvisation, composition, and collective creation. Here, artistic processes are shared openly — children experience not only how to perform, but how art is born, shaped, questioned, and transformed.
Members of the Junior Ensemble actively participate in the wider artistic life of VRUM: they contribute to the creation of VRUMSTIVAL, join additional Playshop and Playtank programmes, and engage in encounters with performances and artists that inspire curiosity and dialogue.
The season culminates in the creation of an original production developed by the ensemble itself. This work will be presented at DAS Margareten, Vienna’s new space for dance and theatre, where VRUM is a resident artistic collective — a place where young voices, bodies, and ideas take the stage.
An international exchange with partner organisations such as Ultima Vez (Belgium) opens further horizons, inviting the children into intercultural encounters and shared artistic experiences beyond borders.
VRUM Junior Ensemble is a place for experimentation, friendship, responsibility, and joy — a space where young people grow as artists and as a community.
